CONSTRUCTION
(Design & Management Regulations)
ARICAB ARCHITECTS
is committed to health and safety in the design and
construction process and is aware of the requirements placed
upon them as designers under the CDM regulations. We have
fulfilled the requirements of designer under the Regulations
in numerous construction projects.
The practice was established in Faringdon, Oxfordshire in
1987 by Gordon Haslett who is the sole principal. Gordon Haslett
is a registered architect and a member of the Royal Institute
of British Architects. The practice has been covered by professional
indemnity insurance since inception.
All projects are overseen by the principal who is responsible
for ensuring that all staff employed on the project are suitably
qualified for their involvement and familiar with the impact
of health and safety requirements on the design. It is the
responsibility of the architect controlling the project to
ensure at the planning stage that adequate time and resources
are allocated to fulfil all elements of the design process,
including health and safety considerations. The principle
of the hierarchy of risk control is acknowledged as part of
the design process.
Information is presented on drawings or sketches either using
in-house ArchiCad facilities, or by manual drafting. A full
technical support library is available utilising the RIBA
data sheets and National Building Specification for technical
documents, together with an extensive library of technical
literature. Computer aided design software is available for
design and analysis using software provided by Graphisoft
Ltd.
Drawings and sketches are transmitted to all parties using
standard transmittal register sheets.
Risk assessment is carried out for the architectural aspects
of all projects using standard risk assessment appraisal sheets.
These sheets are circulated amongst the design team during
the design stages of the project.
All ARICAB ARCHITECTS activities
affecting health and safety aspects of our output are governed
by the RIBA 'Job Book' and Croners 'Management of Construction
Safety'.
ARICAB ARCHITECTS is familiar
with the requirements of such a project and is currently working
as designer under the CDM regulations on several projects
with a similar architectural involvement
